The first GANTOB book, published on 23 September 2023, contained 100 quotes under 10 themes. They were accompanied by 9 pictures, each generated by Artificial Intelligence. Ten if you include the front cover. Since then GANTOB participants have become more confident in producing their own art.
Gillian Finks’ copy of that book, held in storage by her family, contains a bookmark listing the 10 themes. Perhaps inevitably it is in the form of a green tea label.
In the spirit of reenactment, there is the suggestion we produce an updated version of the book, but with human created art. GANTOB has not resorted to AI since that first volume.
If you could like to get involved, you can either:
- collate some new quotes under one of these themes, or a totally new theme, explaining your process. For the original book the quotes were primarily based on the utterances of people mentioned in the JAMS’ book 2023: A trilogy. So you’ll find some Yoko Ono, Steve Jobs, George Orwell, members of The Beatles. You get the idea. Many other approaches would be valid
- Or draw something new reflecting one of the themes, or the book cover
There were other stories in the first GANTOB book related to various book/ vinyl/ pamphlet drops, and Gillian’s life and family. These chapters might also be updated and the Kompanion Volume to the book incorporated within the text.
